Job Description: Purpose: The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for the IT needs of the Kabul and regional offices, including system installations, maintenance, support and technical consultations to clients. S/he is responsible for ensuring that standards set by the DAI home office are followed and project solutions are the most efficient and cost effective. Responsibilities also include assisting in the setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of the LANs (Local Area Networks) at the various project offices. Responsible for the setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of client computers and peripherals such as printers and scanners. S/he will ensure that proper back up, anti-virus and disaster recovery procedures are identified and followed and that end users have access to shared files, printers and to email. Objective and Duties: Provide basic daily IT support for systems and users for work flow efficiencies Solve problems and maintain service reports Local network maintenance and installation including cabling, switches/hubs and NIC configuration TCP/IP, NAT, TCP/IP printing, windows network and domain services on TCP/IP WAN connectivity and maintenance (Internet connection and services) Travel to regional and provincial offices as required Server and server application maintenance and installation (Hardware integration, Windows 2003 server installation and maintenance, LAN and WAN connectivity, Lotus Domino and messaging system, FTP services, Symantec Antivirus Protection Corporate edition installation and maintenance, and Kaspersky Antivirus installation and maintenance. Client computer hardware and application installation and configuration, maintenance User support Manage, control, and secure all software Should have the knowledge of Encryption software and how it works. Check systems in order to optimize performance and to initiate recovery action after system failures Make suggestions for network hardware and software system improvements Create and Maintain effective inventory of IT and communication equipment Provide assistance in procurement and evaluation of all IT technical equipment Advise in procurement process and assist with IT Inventory Offer suggestions for the betterment of IT system. Provide remote support to expat staff on weekend (Friday and Saturday) if required. Should have full information in windows backup system and how it works. Should have knowledge of installation and maintenance of virtualization platform both in windows and Linux. Other related task as assigned from time to time by the Facilities & Logistics Manager.
