Job Description: General Objective: The Information Technology (IT) Specialist is responsible for the IT needs of the Kabul Office, including system installations, maintenance, support and technical consultations to clients. S/he is responsible for ensuring that standards set by the DAI home office are followed and project solutions are the most efficient and cost effective. Responsibilities also include assisting in the setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of the LANs (Local Area Networks) at the various project offices. Responsible for the setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of client computers and peripherals such as printers and scanners. S/he will ensure that proper back up, anti-virus and disaster recovery procedures are identified and followed and that end users have access to shared files, printers and to email. Other duties as assigned from time to time by the IT Director. Objectives and Duties: Local network maintenance and installation including cabling, switches and NIC configuration TCP/IP, NAT, TCP/IP printing, windows network and domain services on TCP/IP; WAN connectivity and maintenance (Internet connection and services); Server and server application maintenance and installation (Hardware integration, Windows 2012 R2 server installation and maintenance, LAN and WAN connectivity, Lotus Domino and messaging system, FTP services, Kaspersky Antivirus Protection Corporate edition installation and maintenance; Client computer hardware and application installation and configuration, maintenance. Laptops, Desktops, MS Windows ,7 and 10 pro, MS Office Pro, Lotus Notes and other mail clients, Kaspersky AV and other project software; Performs network administration activities to include: performing back-ups, restoring files, adding or deleting users; checking space requirements; applying and monitoring security patches for all operating systems and server applications; installing and configuring network systems and workstation systems; and configuring router and firewall firmware and software. Troubleshoots employee computer and application problems; performs repairs as needed, provides feedback and recommends and implements solutions, upgrades and training. Check systems in order to optimize performance and to initiate recovery action after system failures; Manage, control, and secure all software; Travel to regional offices when needed; Keep record of all IT equipment issues and return forms Backup the servers on daily, weekly and monthly basis; Make suggestions for network hardware and software system improvements; Create and maintain effective inventory of IT and communication equipment; Provide assistance in procurement and evaluation of all IT technical equipment; Advise in procurement process. Work closely with Inventory coordinator to identify working, Repairable and none repairable IT equipment and report to IT Director and senior management.
